Watcher's Council Results, 9/8/06

The Council has spoken! Complete results can be found here on the site of our fearless leader, Watcher of Weasels

This week there was a three way tie for first place, which means the Watcher acts as the deciding vote...and his pick for the winning piece this week went to The Sundries Shack:It’s Not a War. It’s a Trendy Buzzword! Jimmie Bise's great piece in defense of Bush's use of the term "Islamic Fascism". Congrats on a well deserved win, Jimmie!

Tied for second were J O S H U A P U N D I T: It is time for Jews to think about leaving Western Europe My piece on why I see the Jews living in most of Western Europe and Scandanavia as living on borrowed time. This item get a great deal of attention from guilty, self righteous Europeans and from European Jews which basically proved my point, but I'll cover that in more detail later.

Also tied for second was Right Wing Nut House: 9/11 TIN FOIL HATS ARE MELTING in which Rick Moran does a great job of explaining the recent government reports aimed at debunking the 9/11 conspiracy theorists. You would think that Osama actually taking credit for blowing up the Twin Towers and the clear cut sign posts dating from 1993 and the first WTC bombing would be enough...

In the non-Council category, the winner was Mere Rhetoric: Hezbollah Probably Lost the War, But They May Never Have Been In It To Win, in which Omri Ceren makes the point that Hezbollah's primary focus was on upping the ante of what's acceptable in the Arab Israeli conflict. He may be right, but to me its a side issue, as the reason for the attack was that Nasrallah had orders from his Iranian masters to take the spotlight off of Iran's non-compliance with the UN. The two don't necessarily contradict, and this is a well written piece.

In second place for non-Council entries was Gideon's Blog: Friday, September 01, 2006 in which Gideon muses over the proper definition of faschism and whether it applies to Radical Islam.

Hearty congratulations to all the winners!!
