Well, it's official....North Korea tested its nuke this morning

Kim and the boyz play with toyz...

Just a few hours after Japan's new Prime Minister Abe met with China's President Hu Jintao and agreed that that a nuclear test by the Pyongyang regime "cannot be tolerated",Kim Jong-Il had a surprise for them both.

North Korea announced this morning that it had performed its first nuclear-weapons test. North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency said the underground test was performed successfully and there was no radioactive leakage from the site.

"The nuclear test is a historic event that brought happiness to the our military and people," said KCNA, declaring: "The nuclear test was conducted by 100 percent of our wisdom and technology."

I hope Madeline Albright and Mr. Bill feel good about this one.

The test was apparently conducted at 10:36 a.m. local time about 9:36 p.m. EDT yesterday -- in Hwaderi near Kilju city. South Korean intelligence officials in Seoul reported a seismic wave of a magnitude 3.58 on the Richter scale had been detected.

Because of the wide spread opposition to the test, even from China, I get the feeling that this was something of a `sales demonstration' for the one major product North Korea has to sell to various interested parties, especially in the Middle East.

I'm sure Putin would be happy to facilitate the sales for a piece of the action, just like last time.

Not good.

i am, of course, still in the minority.
i believe this was done with the support and blessing of beijing.
one of the other things KJ can produce in copious quantities are benjamins.
now if china can just figure a way for KJ to bypass those nasty banks the US has its' fingers in, everything will be rosey.
