`Teddy Bear' Teacher Pardoned And Kicked Out Of Sudan

Well, it appears that the Sudan has freed Gillian Gibbons, the teacher who was jailed for `insulting religion' because she let her class of seven-year-olds name a teddy bear `Muhammed' has been pardoned by Sudanese leader Omar al-Bashir and freed from jail.

She was taken from her cell to the British embassy in Khartoum, has made some properly groveling public statements and will be on a plane out of the country shortly.

The teddy bear will be beheaded for blasphemy.

OK, kidding, but for a second you thought I was serious, didn't you?

As for Ms. Gibbons, I strongly doubt she was let loose simply for good public relations, which is what British PM Gordon Brown would have us believe. A price was paid, and we'll find out what it was later.
